Here’s a unique and fun event courtesy of reader, Jessica.
It’s a one day, sign language camp for kids in grades K-6. It’s on March 21st from 3-5 PM in the Emerald Ridge High School C0mmons (this is in Puyallup, but it’s the one almost to Graham). Kids will learn some common signs and enjoy games, fun, and a snack. Plus, they get a t-shirt and a sign language DVD to take home. All this fun is supervised by ERHS students, and it will run you just 15.00. Anyone know the sign for great deal??
Jessica asked me to emphasize that neither you nor the kids need to have any ASL experience. Parents can stay or drop-off (most drop-off and enjoy a little alone time). The money raised goes towards supporting sign language club activities, and the club also donates to the local deaf community. I think this would be a great activity for those of you whose kids have a little cabin fever, as well as those with older kids who might have a real interest in taking ASL in high school.
Registration and fees are due two days prior to camp. For more information, you can email mattsje@puyallup.k12.wa.us. I’m guessing Jessica can email you a registration form.
