Here for your weekend events list? I’ll have it right up (o.k. not right up, but I’m working on it-I promise).
I’m about to tell you about a fun, family activity that won’t be happening for Weeks. I know this violates the kind of oops-I-just-saw-this thing that you’re probably used to around here. 🙂
Why the prior planning? Mainly because last year these events all filled Fast. Here’s the scoop: Metro Parks Tacoma has several family snow-play days. They will transport you and your whole crew up to the mountain to a designated snow play area. You bring your own sleds or inner tubes and enjoy an afternoon of play without having to worry about driving, directions, or gas. It’s reasonably priced as well-just 20.00 for transport for a family of 4. I think the gas would cost you at least that much if you did this on your own.
You do need to call to register, though you can see all the details at their site. The first date is at the end of January, and they are also offering family snowshoe outings. You do not need to be a city of Tacoma resident. Btw, that’s one of my best tips for finding frugal family fun all year ’round-check with your neighboring parks departments to multiply your options. Some do charge more for non-residents, but typically it’s only a few bucks, and you’ve radically increased your possibilities. Nifty, huh?
