Easy DIY Thanksgiving Tablecloth

November 16, 2011 by Maegen Blue

I’m totally delighted to have another guest post from Erin of Simply Frugal Mom. It’s a perfect pre-Thanksgiving craft to do with the kids this week.

Thanks to Pinterest I recently discovered chalkboard contact paper. It is exactly what it sounds like….contact paper that you can write on and erase like a chalkboard. I immediately ordered a roll from Amazon and began dreaming up ways to use it.

Today, I am sharing one of the projects I came up with. This is quite possibly the easiest craft project you will ever undertake. But I promise your Thanksgiving guests will be impressed.

You will need:

A roll of chalkboard contact paper. Here on Amazon.

A vinyl Thanksgiving tablecloth

I picked up my tablecloth at Joann’s for $4.

Cut your chalkboard contact paper to the desired shape. I used a patchwork tablecloth so I could cut my contact paper to fit in particular squares but you can use any shapes.

Peel the back off the contact paper and stick it to the tablecloth.

Voila! You now have chalkboard areas on your tablecloth.

Give your guests a piece of chalk and ask them to fill the tablecloth with the things they are thankful for.

I think this would be a great tablecloth for the kids’ table or the main table. It is a great way to get your guests involved and talking about what they are thankful for. Both the vinyl tablecloth and the chalkboard paper will wipe clean, so you can start a new family tradition and use this tablecloth year after year!

I hope you’ll stop by my blog, Simply Frugal Mom and check out some of the other things I have been up to. Be sure to see my recap of my first trip to Grocery Outlet and the simple solution I came up with to display my son’s artwork.

Happy Thanksgiving!
