I posted this last week, but I think it got lost a bit in the shuffle, so I’m rerunning it because it’s such a great opportunity.
November 12th is this year’s annual Career Day at the Point Defiance Zoo. It’s for students in 6th grade-high school. I know many of you have younger ones, but this would be a great post to pass on to parents of tweens and teens you know. The event is free and includes free zoo admission for the student, although those 16 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Activities run from 10-3 and students must check in at the window first, beginning at 9:30.
The zoo has other educational opportunities for all ages throughout the year, but they’ll run you a lot more.
I think this is a great idea for students contemplating animal or science related careers, and I’m sure there are kids out there who could use it to fulfill badge or school requirements.
It’s going to be a little slow here today, as I’m using my blog time to work on a list of South Sound Holiday events.
I’ve had plenty of good stuff here this week, though, so make sure you’ve checked out:
My post on the Norpoint Turkey Trot (make sure to read to the end for a reader tip). If trotting is too ambitious for you, consider walking Fantasy Lights instead. You’ll want to register or get tickets for both of these events soon to save some money.
My posts on upcoming sales at Toysmith in Sumner and Mega Brands/ Mega Blocks in Fife
If you’re part of a military family, make sure you’ve read the list of Veteran’s Day freebies and bargains over at ThriftyNorthwestMom. If you’re looking for observances or events, I’ve got a list in the menu bar above.
Finally, if you could just use a giggle, might I suggest you read this post from the Meanest Mom blog on trying to get a decent photo for the holiday card. I actually think everything she writes is spit-up funny, but I do have sort of a dry, snarky sense of humor. If you do also, you’ll love her!
