What Sounds Fun This Week: South Sound Fun for Kids and Families for November 6th-11th

Here are a few highlights for the week ahead!

The bouncy house list and the indoor playground list are all updated. You can find both, plus South Sound malls with play areas, under Rainy Day Play.

One note: The Pt.Defiance Zoo is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays through December 16th.

Ongoing

Story time is back at all area libraries! Every day this week, there are multiple events for all ages. The PCL system also has many events for teens. Use the calendar that comes up on the left after clicking each link to change the date. Here are links:

Science Classes for Home Schoolers and other children resume at the Nature Center at Snake Lake

Monday

Bilingual story time at the Sumner Library  Evening program for preschoolers with stories and song play in Spanish and English; See link for days and times at other libraries. See links above to find other story times.

Book Talk with Chris Van Allsburg, author of The Polar Express and the Mysterious Chronicles of Harris Burdick. I believe the talk will be on the Harris Burdick book. 7PM at the Main Branch of the Tacoma Public Library.

Tuesday

Car seat safety checks Free weekly check at Mary Bridge in Tacoma. Link has contact info. for fire stations and other sites for seat inspections.

It’s 1.00 day at the Starplex in Federal Way (tickets are just 2.00 other days).  Other days are showing Cars II, Smurfs, Spy Kids, and Harry Potter.

Mom and baby class at Good Samaritan Two class times for moms and babies 0-12

Fetch Club at the Gig Harbor Library Science program for 3rd-5th graders based on the popular television series. Register

Read with a dog at the Puyallup Public Library Drop in and read with Pepper today anytime between 3:30-4:30

It’s the Muppets! Muppet movies and other muppet fun at the Graham Library at 3:30  Event is rotating around PCL system.

Read With a Dog Every Tuesday at the Graham Library, kids can practice their reading skills with a patient canine listener. Drop in program; 6:30-7:45

Wednesday

Story Time at the Seymour Conservatory Nature/Science themed stories and crafts at the Seymour Conservatory at Wright Park. 11AM-12

It’s the Muppets! Muppet movies and other muppet fun at the University Place Library at 1:30. Event is rotating around PCL system.

Read With a Dog Every Wednesday at the Summit Library, kids can practice their reading skills with a patient canine listener. Drop in program; 4-5PM

It’s a Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the South Hill Library 6:30PM Kids up to 8 enjoy games and snacks before leaving their stuffed buddies for the night. They’ll return with pictures of their adventures!

Juice and Jammies Wednesday at Barnes and Noble in Olympia 7PM Also at the Kitsap Barnes and Noble

Thursday

Preschool Dance Party at the Wheelock Library Two times

It’s the Muppets! Muppet movies and other muppet fun at the Buckley Library at 4:00. Event is rotating around PCL system.

Fetch Club at the Lakewood Library 4PM Science program for 3rd-5th graders based on the popular television series. Call library to register.

Read With a Dog at the Puyallup public library Low pressure practice for young readers. Drop-in anytime between 3:30-4:30  Dan is your 4 legged listener today

Friday

It’s Veteran’s Day  See my post for Veteran’s Day observances and ideas. Schools are closed, as are banks and government offices.

Nature Discovery Hour at the Tacoma Nature Center 10:30  Special time to explore the Discovery Pond with naturalists and fun tools. For ages 2-7  3.00; free for adults

Arctic Animal Play Day and Veterans appreciation at the Point Defiance Zoo

Free Day for Veterans and Active Duty Military at NW Trek
