South Sound Area Kids’ Night Out Events

October 20, 2011 by Maegen Blue

Here is my round up of South Sound area groups offering date nights or parents/kids night out events.

These are typically pricier than paying a sitter, but you can skip the whole drama associated with finding one and persuading your kids to let you leave the house. I try to include these in my weekend list as space allows, but you may just want to bookmark this post for future reference, or sign up now and put a big red circle on the calendar!
City of Federal Way The Federal Way Parks Department offers regular, “Kids’ Escape,” nights. 5:30-9:30 20.00 per child/Discount for pass holders. Extra 3.00 fee for late registration 2nd Fridays from 5:30-9:30

City of Auburn Supervised gym play has been offered for kids 4-11. I don’t see any on the current calendar, but you might just call and check.

Roach Gymnastics, Sumner Monthly date nights for children of members and non members. Games and free play. 5:30-9:30 25.00 first child/20.00 for siblings; discount for members

YMCA, Tacoma and Lakewood, Puyallup The Morgan, Mel Korum, and Lakewood YMCAs offer kids’ nights out one Saturday a month. These are actually overnight events! You need not be a member, although nonmembers pay a bit more. This link will open a pdf with the complete schedule and a hyperlink to registration information.

City of Fife The parks department offers periodic kids’ night out events for kids 4-12. They’re a real bargain-10.00 for the first child/5.00 for the second, and they include food and activities. The next one is a Halloween event on the 27th. You need to register by the Thursday before the event.

Children’s Museum of Tacoma Every 3rd Friday for ages 3-10; children must be able to use the restroom independently. 25.00 for the first child/10.00 for siblings  6-9:30 Advance registration required

Jump! Gig Harbor Monthly Friday date nights include jumping, pizza, and fruit. Ages 3-10 25.00/15.00 siblings   Register in advance

Discovery Village Gig Harbor Monthly Saturday date night includes dinner and activities. 30.00/discount for additional siblings/registration required

Black Hills Gymnastics Lacey For kids 5 and up; purchase segments of time, depending on whether you want the kids to just enjoy open play, or stay for food and a movie. 10.00 for one segment/15.00 any two/20.00 any three

Hands on Children’s Museum  The HOCM is currently closed, but will open at its new location mid November Date nights have typically been offered every 2nd Saturday

If you know about another group that offers regular kids’ night out events, let me know! If you’ve tried any of these out, I’d love to hear your review, too!
