Looking for local apple picking options? If you’re looking for u-pick, apple picking in the greater Tacoma/Puyallup /Pierce County area, don’t miss my post on apple picking at Terry’s Berries. Read on for some more local events.
Oh, Terry’s also does way-fun field trips. I forgot to ask if they’re fully booked yet, but give a call if you have a group of 10 or more kiddos-they get to help harvest crops, feed the chickens, and take a little hayride.
If you can’t get enough of apple fun, there is the annual Apple Squeeze in Steilacoom. This year’s event is Sunday, October 2nd. Enjoy fresh pressed cider, pony rides for the kids, and more. Steilacoom is also just a super charming town to explore. A similar event is held yearly in Puyallup. The Meeker Mansion Cider Squeeze will be October 8th.
Lattin’s in Olympia also has all kinds of apple related fun.
There is an annual picking event at the Curran Orchard in U.P. but I’ll just go ahead and admit that I missed it. It was September 11th, and it just slipped by me. Grrrr-it happens! If you know of another spot I might have overlooked, do let me know! I tried hard to find other u-pick options last year, and I have to tell you, it was slim pickings (pickings, get it?)
If you’d like to skip ahead to pumpkins, the amazing Jen over at ThriftyNWmom, has teamed up with other frugal bloggers to put together a big ‘ol list of pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and more! I’ll again be doing a pumpkin patch list here later this month. If you’re a long time reader, you’ll remember that I organize my patches by, “Pumpkin personality,” so you can decide if you want a full day experience, a quick photo op, or something in between!
If you weren’t here yesterday, make sure to read my post on Harvest Fest 2011, too!
