Ideas for South Sound Family Fun for Sunday, August 28th

Here are a few ideas for your summer bucket list. Fun for kids in Tacoma, Olympia, Sumner, Auburn, and spots in between!

Tacoma Maritime Fest Free celebration of Tacoma’s working waterfront. Free boat rides; free boat tours; free kids’ activities. Expect crowds.

Official Opening of Cats of the Canopy at the Pt.Defiance Zoo Special clouded leopard activities included with admission. The zoo is pricey. SFM recommends investing in a pass.

Kitsap County Fair and Stampede

Sand in the City Free Community event in Olympia to benefit the Hands on Children’s Museum Sand sculpting, community beach party (5.00 family donation requested), face painting, and more. Today is Grandparent’s Day with free admission to the viewing area for grandparents and special activities.

Founders’ Day Picnic at Historic Ft. Steilacoom Bring a main dish to share and enjoy a tour of the four museum buildings  Quarters 4 1:30-4

Low tide event at Burfoot Park and Tolmie State Park 10:30-1:30

Emerald Downs Sunday family fun days. Auburn   pony rides, face painting, kids’ entertainment

Kaleb’s Groovin’ Dance Party 3PM Rainier View Park  Join 8 year old Kaleb and other fun loving Sumner kiddos for a little dance fun in the park.
