The ironic thing about this post is that I actually remember when kids did things like potato sack races for fun. It was called the ’70s….
Anyway, you can go back even further in time at a really special event this friday, July 22nd. It’s Family Fun Night at Ft.Nisqually, a once a year event when you’re encouraged to bring a picnic and blanket and enjoy a summer’s evening at the fort. There will be ice cream and lemonade while supplies last, old-fashioned games, and periodic firings of the candy cannon.
I spoke with Jill from the Fort this morning, and she said tickets are still all at the door. She also wants you to know to expect a line for the first 45 minutes as they have just one cashier and one register. She says you shouldn’t have to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes, though. The exhibits will also all be open with interpreters on hand.
Admission is 6.00 for adults, 4.00 for kids 4-17 and free for those under 4, or choose the family rate of 22.00 which covers 2 adults and up to 6 children. Military, students, and seniors get a buck off admission. There are bogo coupons for Ft.Nisqually in the Entertainment Book, but you can not use them for special events. Family Fun Night runs from 6-9PM.
If you’ve done this event before, I’d love to hear your feedback!
