Feel like your life is a merry-go-round? Why fight it?
The Carousel in Kent is now open. It’s free, though a donation of 2.50 is suggested, with the money going to a local Girl Scout troop. Do note that it’s not open on Mondays or Tuesdays, and hours the rest of the week are limited.
The carousel is near the fountains in town square. On Wednesdays, you can also catch free kids’ entertainment.
Too far? There is a unremarkable carousel in the Supermall in Auburn. The ride is short, and the attendant always seems grumpy, but hey-you’re riding a merry go round-in the mall. It’s open 11AM-9PM Monday-Saturday. My friend Brenda and I used to make a full afternoon at the Supermall with a little time at the soft play area, a ride on the carousel, and a pretzel in the food court. Sadly, our big boys have outgrown the play area (and probably the carousel), though they’re still into pretzels! I’m pretty sure rides are 1.00, and if I remember right you have to put money into a little machine to get a token.
There is also a recreated wooden carousel in the Pt.Defiance Zoo. You will have to pay zoo admission to get to it. Rides are 1.00, and the animals, which were hand carved and painted are truly beautiful. You can also rent the carousel and the party room for birthdays. It will set you back a pretty penny, but it would definitely be special.
