Ongoing Summer Activities

Free summer reading programs at all area libraries. Kids keep track of time spent reading (or being read to) and earn prizes! All libraries offer tons of free events in conjunction with these programs. I include some of these in my weekly list, but not all of them due to space restrictions.

Spraygrounds in many areas are open.

Free Bowling and Cheap movies

Tuesday

The 6th avenue Farmer’s Market has opened for the season. Get your fresh on every Tuesday!

Make it; Take it Event at Michael’s It’s a lei and other Hawaiian themed crafts-part of their Passport to Fun program  11AM-2PM Free

Car seat safety checks Free weekly check at Mary Bridge in Tacoma. Link has contact info. for fire stations and other sites for seat inspections.

It’s 1.00 day at the Starplex in Federal Way (tickets are just 2.00 other days). See link above for more 1.00 movies this summer.

Mom and baby class at Good Samaritan Two class times for moms and babies 0-12 months 3.00

Free children’s concerts Every Tuesday evening in Lacey at Huntamer Park. It’s Leapin Louie’s Cowboy Comedy Show tonight.

Wednesday

Whoope It’s Wednesday program at the Foss Waterway Seaport  Program for parents and children ages 7-19  12-2   12.00 for one adult and up to 3 children. Read more in my post here.

Lego Kids’ Building Club Drop in program at Moore library at 1PM for ages 5 and up Make sure to sign your kids up for the library summer reading program while you’re there. Did you know Tacoma has one for adults too?

Oh! The Places You’ll Go 3PM Swasey  Free summer reading program event; hear the Dr.Seuss classic and make road signs

Juice and Jammies Wednesday at Barnes and Noble in Olympia 7PM Also at the Kitsap Barnes and Noble

Thursday

Get the season’s best every Thursday at the Broadway Farmer’s Market. The Olympia Farmer’s Market is also now open Thursdays-Sundays!

Passport to Fun Make it Take it Event at Michael’s It’s a moose and maple leaf from Canada 11-2

Read with a Doggie Friend at the Puyallup Public Library Drop in between 2:00-3:00 to read with a patient canine listener. Be sure to sign up for the summer reading program while you’re there (hint: Puyallup and Tacoma have reading programs for grown-ups).

Free Market Play Day at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma Enjoy free admission every Thursday in June, July, and August

Story time and Craft at Tacoma Public Libraries: It’s Pet Rock Day  Various times Registration required

Comedian Bill Robinson performs kid friendly comedy and clowning routine at the Wheelock library at 11:00AM Registration required

Friday

Family Fun Time at the Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor 10:30AM Fireworks themed arts and crafts  Free for members or admission + 1.00 Wear Painting Clothes

Animated retelling of John, Paul, George, and Ben, and Independent Tom at the Puyallup Public Library A fun look at the founding fathers  A free event as part of the summer reading program   All ages  3:00PM

Free First Friday at the Children’s Museum in Tacoma

Play Tacoma Free Family play nights at Tacoma Parks from 5-8PM This evening’s is at Jefferson Park and features obstacle courses, relay races, and more!

Luna Moms Playgroup in Puyallup Organized by Codi of Stroller Strides but open to any mom with a little one.  Want to list your group? Just give me a holler.
