My friend Lisa called to remind me about the big Scholastic book fair warehouse sale coming up in Auburn. I actually had this flyer in my inbox, but I had forgotten all about it.
The sale is in a warehouse, and you’ll find Scholastic titles, including hard covers, at up to 80% off. It’s a great way to fill your gift closet or stock your classroom library.
Now, the flyer clearly says that the event is for teachers, principals, librarians, and book fair volunteers. I helped at my older son’s book fair this year (total nightmare-every kid in line wanted to buy squiggly pencils with a baggie full of pennies), and I bet a lot of you did, too. If you didn’t, and you can’t find a teacher friend to drag along, you could try registering as a home schooler or take your chances and just show up. The last time I went no one was checking i.d. or so much as saying boo to anyone. I’ll leave it up to you to decide though, as I obviously can’t guarantee what will happen one way or the other. If you do decide to go, there are coupons you’ll want to download if you plan on really loading up.
If you like to be official, make a point of spending an hour or so helping at the book fair next year. Pretty much every school has one.
