Reader Rae left a nice comment about the Owens Beach event last weekend, so I was excited to find information on some more upcoming low tide events. Each offers a chance for your kids to see and learn about sea creatures that are normally hidden beneath the water.

According to News Tribune writer, Jeffrey Mayor, some of the lowest tides of the summer will actually be in the days prior to the June 18th event, so you might want to pick a day to head out on your own. His article has a great list of beaches to try all over the South Sound, as well as tips on how to make the most of your low tide day, including some must read, “etiquette” tips.
There are also low tide events in the South King County and Seattle area organized by the Seattle Aquarium.
Thurston County Folks will want to check this list of summer low tide events at Priest Point and other Thurston County parks.
I’ll try to remind you about these dates in my weekly lists, but if you put them on your calendar now, you can tell me if I forget! It also looks like there is still plenty of room in the free, one day camps from Surfriders this summer on how to protect sea life.
This is one of most favorite things to do!!!
