Did you catch my post on South Puget Sound area library summer reading programs?
Well, turns out that adults can get in at on the fun at the Tacoma Public Library and the Puyallup Public Library (you can get cards to both if you’re already a PCL card holder).
At the Puyallup Public Library, adults complete a little “game board,” that encourages you to try different genres of reading. Every adult who completes one and turns it in, gets a free coffee card. Yippe! Plus, you’ll be entered to win a gift certificate….I think it’s to Borders…..I have to double check that. The little game boards are right inside to the left on that shelf where they keep the pencil sharpeners.
At the Tacoma Public Library, adults are invited to read and report (you can write an online review) on 5 books this summer. Everyone who does gets a tote bag, a journal, and a ticket to the Grand Cinema. Plus, there will be weekly drawings for other prizes, and at the end of the event, one lucky grown-up reader will win a Kindle. I didn’t see adult programs at any of the county libraries, but they do all offer plenty of adult classes and events.
I don’t know about you, but I’m working on earning my coffee card today! If you feel guilty taking the time to read something without pictures-don’t! All kinds of studies have proven that children of readers are much more likely to be successful readers as well. Plus, I’m saying it…..
