Here’s your weekend list! If you’re headed north or south, you’ll want to  check out the list over at ThriftyNWmom compiled by super bargain sleuth Sia of Centsible in Seattle. If you’d rather stay around the South Puget Sound, I’ve got a whole list of events right here. If you’re new to the site, I write about affordable fun for kids and families in the South Sound. I have new ideas every day, and weekend activities lists like this one, every Friday.

Saturday

Visit your area farmers’ market!

Home Depot Kids’ Club It’s a valet organizer  9-12  Arrive early for these popular free programs.

Maritime Fest in Gig Harbor pancake breakfast, parade, kids’ activities and more!

Kids’ Fishing Derby at Bradley Lake in Puyallup 3.00 per child/kids should bring their own gear. Fishing is closed to adults, but parents are encouraged to help their kids.

Duck Daze in University Place Annual duck parade followed by community yard sale and police and fire department open houses

Story time at Cabela’s in Lacey  The first Saturday of the month kids can hear outdoor stories in the big walled tent at the giant outdoor retailer (don’t forget to feed the fish).  10:30   Free

Family Day at the Karshner Museum in Puyallup  The first Saturday of the month, the museum has special themed activities. Lots of exhibits kids can touch and explore. 3.00/person or 10.00 per family  10-2  Note: Directions on the site are accurate, but the family day schedule was never updated this year, so ignore that part.

Hooked On Fishing – Federal Way; 6/4; 7:00am to 10:00am; Kids from 2 to 12 can come join in the fishing fun (all equipment provided) for $3.50 per child!  Thanks, Centsible in Seattle and ThriftyNWmom

HC MAST water weekends at Redondo-The center is open again every Saturday from 10-2. Kids can touch sea critter in the tanks and learn about other aquatic animal

Curious George story time appearance at Lakewood Barnes and Noble-Link takes you to all area stores; check to see what yours is doing.

Spy-School Splashtacular – Federal Way; 6/4; 11:00am to 1:00pm; Free water safety and awareness event for kids from 3 to 12 Thanks, Centsible in Seattle and ThriftyNWmom

Mummies and Deadies day at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma Kids can enjoy the “Wrapped,” mummy exhibit with a favorite grown up. One free adult admission with one child’s admission. Cookie decorating and an appearance from Stanley the camel.

Mother Earth News Fair Family-oriented festival on all things green, organic, and sustainable. Various workshops, demos and kids’ activities. Adult one day passes are 15.00. Kids under 17 are free. You may have gotten a flyer with your mail or newspaper that gives you bogo  adult admission.

World Oceans Day at the Pt.Defiance Zoo Special themed activities included with admission

Explore the Shore at Owens Beach Naturalists will be on hand to help kids identify and “map,” sea life revealed by the low tide.  Free  12-3

Master Gardener’s Program in Puyallup Free kids’ program from the master gardeners at the WSU extension. Today’s theme is, “pizza herbs,”  1PM.

Borders Summer Reading Kick-off Special event for kids 8-12 at select Borders stores.  2PM  Free

Trek Trails Weekend Opening of the newly renovated trails system at NW trek with special scavenger hunt activities included with admission. Admission is pricey. There are coupons in the Entertainment Book-consider investing in a pass if you would go more than twice a year.

Kitsap Medieval Fair Head to Port Gamble for a taste of the Middle Ages 5.00; kids free

New Market Pioneer Fair in Olympia Hands-on pioneer activities for children; costumes encouraged  5.00/3.00 or 15.00 for the family  Refreshments for sale

Sea Cinema in Olympia Ocean themed films for kids 8 and up at the Capitol Theater. Also, a free “block party,” in the afternoon as part of World Oceans Day events. Scroll down for those events; film listings are first.

Norpoint Grand Opening and Wellness Fair Check out the new sprayground and playground and enjoy music and light refreshments   Free  11-1

“Save the Sound,” kids’ program at the WETT center in Olympia 1PM  free

Miss Nelson is Missing Performances at TMP Adult tickets 15.00 and kids 10.00; some discounts available
