It’s almost Spring Fair time! As I’ve mentioned before, I actually prefer the Spring Fair to the big one. It’s just less busy and has more old-fashioned fun. Plus, the traffic doesn’t get snarled up for weeks…..there, I said it.
Here are my best tips for making the most of your Spring Fair going:
Go on Thursday–unless you’re in the military
Thursday is opening day and kids are free from 2PM-10PM with a suggested food donation (kids 5 and under are always free). You can also get the ride saver deal on Thursday without a coupon, which gives you any 7 rides for 16.00, not including the roller coaster and the extreme scream. You can get discounted adult tickets at Fred Meyer and Safeway if you buy in advance. If you have an Entertainment book, there is a Bogo coupon that is an even better deal. Parking is always free-yippe!
Do the ride deal-If your kids are little enough, you can probably just skip these and save yourself some cash. If they’re old enough to know about rides, this is your best bet. We have two kids, and seven is an odd number, so we usually buy the 7 ride deal and then just enough tickets to cover one more, so that each kid gets four rides. You can get this deal on Thursday without a coupon. Any other day, you’ll need the coupon. You’ll get one if you buy admission tickets in advance, or you may have gotten one in the blue Val-Pak mailer, or if you have school age kids, they should have brought one home last week-probably on Friday. Check their folders!
Check out the Kids’ Zone
The Spring Fair has a whole pavillion of mostly free fun, including face painting, a reptile show, science exhibits, and more. There are also tons of contest exhibits at the Spring Fair, all of which are free to check out.
Check out the animals and the entertainment
Again, it’s all free, and seriously-what’s cuter than a bunch of baby animals? Besides your baby, of course! You can see the Daily Schedule here.
Eat Before You Go-Not to be a total grinch, but here’s what’s going to get you. If you can avoid going hungry, you will save yourself a ton of money. My husband always has to get a bag of scones. It pretty much doubles the cost of the outing, but they are tasty!
If you’re in the military, go on Friday when your admission and that of your dependents is free with a current, valid i.d.
What if you have to go on the weekend? Well, if you have to go on the weekend, you’re going to pay more, but you can still get discount tickets at Fred Meyer or Safeway, and they will come with the coupon for the ride deal-or just talk everyone into skipping it this year because there is seriously a ton of free fun in the area this weekend (I know this blog that puts out a whole list)!
