I’m about to tell you to make your way down Meridian and head to a storage unit on Puyallup’s South Hill. Why would I tell you to do such a thing? Because that is where you will find Cookies Your Way, the home of big, mouth-watering, home baked bites of goodness.
Cookies Your Way used to be in Freighthouse Square, and it’s worth navigating Meridian to find their new home. Yes, it’s really what I would call a storage unit, although I noticed the sign out front says, “Workshop spaces.” It’s painted in a bistro color, and has a couple cozy tables-but the ambiance really doesn’t matter-you’re here for the cookies. Now, these are all homemade, and there will probably be batches baking when you arrive, as well as some just out of the oven. Henry made nose prints on the display case.
The baker in chief is Christine Johnson, and her staff is made up of her troop of exceptionally well behaved children. It was Spring break when we visited, but one of her teenage sons was doing homework. Christine’s cookies are studded with creative ingredient combinations. Think Mrs.Fields only bigger and tastier. My oldest had a Smores cookie made with chuncks of chocolate and marshmallow. Henry had a double chocolate with an extra chocolate drizzle on the top.
You can buy individual cookies for a couple bucks, which makes them a bit splurgy for a cookie, but totally reasonable as a treat. You can also order them by the dozen or have special occasion cookies custom made. Cookies Your Way is open from 10-6 Monday-Saturday (closed Sundays). You’ll find the unit just after the fountain on South Hill. Look for the banners for the Maxi storage. They’re towards the back. The address is 14706 Meridian E. Suite 6 Puyallup Just don’t drive past it, or it will be a bear to turn around.
Got your own favorite sweet spot? Let me know! You might also enjoy my post on Jubilee Cupcakes. My pal Brenda raves about the Orting Bakery, but we haven’t made it there yet.
