Ongoing Events

Open playtimes at area Bounce House facilities; Playtime at area gyms; bubble time and art exploration at The Children’s Museum of Tacoma. Open playtime at Discovery Village

All Week

Story times have resumed at Pierce County Libraries. Every library has multiple story time events this week. Select the date you want on the calendar and find a story session at a library near you! Note that other PCL library links in this post are pdf flyers. Story times are also back in session at Tacoma Public Libraries. Scroll down to find the date of interest. I don’t list these separately due to space issues.

The Pt.Defiance Zoo is back on its regular schedule and open every day.

Monday

Momtopia event at the Auburn Supermall. 10-11AM Free event designed for kids under 6 and their parents. This month’s activity is flower pot decorating. Near the soft play area

Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday, depending on your family’s faith tradition. Traditionally, it marks a time of celebration and fun before the more somber season of Lent. Our family will be eating pancakes and singing with our church family before we, “Put away the alleluias,” until Easter. You might try something similar at your house, or maybe just do a fun Mardi Gras craft if that’s more your style. I bet your kids would love making some bejeweled masks.

Wee Ones Weekly 9:30-11:00-Special program for toddlers and preschoolers at The Children’s Museum of Tacoma. 7.00 per child plus museum admission (get the play pass from your library to score free admission). This event is also on Wednesdays.

It’s 1.00 day at the Starplex in Federal Way. Catch Harry Potter, Mega Mind, Narnia, Gulliver’s Travels, or Tron. I haven’t seen any of these. If you have any thoughts on them, feel free to leave a comment. Reader Keri says Narnia is excellent but might be too intense for young children. I tend to agree based on what I remember about the first one, although I can’t wait to start the books with our boys.

Spanish/English storytime at the Puyallup Public Library at 6:30
