Story times have resumed at Pierce County Libraries. Every library has multiple story time events this week. Select the date you want on the calendar and find a story session at a library near you! Note that other PCL library links in this post are pdf flyers. New: Story times are also back in session at Tacoma Public Libraries. Scroll down to find the date of interest. I don’t list these separately due to space issues.
The Pt.Defiance Zoo is typically closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the winter, but this week, it’s open every day! I always recommend getting an annual pass if your budget allows-it pays for itself in no time. I also suggest looking at the animal encounter schedule (I’m not 100% sure this one is current, but staff should offer you one when you arrive). Seeing a feeding or a special presentation really makes a visit more memorable.
It’s Presidents’ Day! Don’t want to honor our founding fathers by hitting the mall? How about some crafts? I’m loving Lincoln’s log cabin. Or, here’s a ten minute cherry tree. You might also want to let your kids look at some money. Put a penny under a sheet of paper and rub with crayon for a surprisingly cool effect. You could also have the kids count up all your spare change. Oh, sure, you could just take it to a Coinstar machine, but this gives them a little math practice. Offer them a cut of it if you want!
Schools, banks, and government offices are closed today, but most everywhere else is open. Just expect a crowd!
