This post is a little different than usual, but I just have to tell you about supercook.com
First, I am not a super cook. At all. I am not sure what super hero I am, but super cook is not it. Since launching this blog I’ve also really neglected my shopping, and the combination of my not so great cooking and our not so full fridge has lead to a lot of pizza and grilled cheese. So, when I saw Super Cook featured on Coupon Connections NW last month, I had to check it out. What does it do? It takes Whatever you have in your freezer, fridge, or cupboards and comes up with recipes. Now, I’ve seen similar sites before, but this is so much better. If you put in chicken, cheese, flour, and ketchup, it will come up with something you can make with just those things, not 2,000 random chicken recipes you could make if only you had capers, chutney, and saffron.
I have a fair amount of meat in the freezer, but hardly anything else. Well, I typed in my feeble ingredients, and Super Cook came up with 662 recipes I can make right now without going to the store for anything. It even lets you separate them by sides, entrees, and desserts. Turns out I had dozens of complete meals in my cupboard. Who knew?
You’ve really got to give this thing a try. It’s even fun just to put a random list of stuff in and see what you get. O.K….I’m easily amused, but really, give it a try!
Btw, if you’d like to have a little more in your fridge or freezer to work with, I just got a note that Zaycon Foods is having another chicken breast event in our area. Zaycon sells fresh additive and hormone free chicken by the case (yes, you’re getting 40 lbs. of chicken breast)! Because you trim and prep it yourself, it’s offered at a pretty amazing price of 1.59 a lb. I’m putting in an order today, even though I think it’s funny that I’ll be picking up chicken at a roller rink!
I’m also planning on featuring easy, weeknight recipes on the site from time to time. If you have an original one you’d love to share, let me know!
Disclosure: The Zaycon link is my affiliate. Using it supports this site-and gets you a whole mess ‘a chicken. Thanks!
