Open playtimes at area Bounce House facilities. Playtime at area gyms; bubble time and art exploration at The Children’s Museum of Tacoma. Open playtime at Discovery Village; Cinderella performances at Mane Stage in Sumner. Home school science at Tacoma Nature Center at Snake Lake.
All Week
Story times have resumed at Pierce County Libraries. Every library has multiple story time events this week. Select the date you want on the calendar and find a story session at a library near you! Note that other PCL library links in this post are pdf flyers. New: Story times are also back in session at Tacoma Public Libraries. Scroll down to find the date of interest. I don’t list these separately due to space issues.

Free Stroller Strides Class 9:00 AM Been thinking about trying Stroller Strides? Free class at the South Hill Mall in Puyallup
“Love to Jump” Two special Valentine’s jump sessions at Pump it Up in Tacoma. 10:00-11:30 AM for ages 2-6 5:30-7:30 PM session for kids 6-12 Includes jumping, a craft, and a treat. Evening session includes pizza and drink. Registration suggested. 10.00 per child
Valentine’s Activity at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma Included with admission (try to score a Play Pass from your library). All day
Tuesday
It’s 1.00 day at the Starplex in Federal Way. Catch Despicable Me, Legend of the Guardians, Mega Mind, or New-Harry Potter!
Fetch Club at the Gig Harbor library 4:00 PM For kids in 3rd-5th grade Science activities based around the popular PBS series. Many spots left, but this program does tend to fill.
Read to a Dog 6:30 at the Graham library Kids of all ages and abilities can practice their reading skills while a therapy dog in training listens patiently.
Spanish/English storytime at the Puyallup Public Library at 6:30
Time Travelers Performance The Fort Nisqually Time Travelers portray early settlers of the Puget Sound. Free event with refreshments and prizes. Best for children school age and up. 7:00 PM
Wednesday
Wee Ones Weekly 9:30-11:00-Special program for toddlers and preschoolers at The Children’s Museum of Tacoma. 7.00 per child plus museum admission (get the play pass from your library to score free admission). This event is also on Wednesdays.
Lego Madness at the South Hill library from 1-3 Drop in and do some Lego.
Read to a Dog 4:00 Summit Library
Parenting Workshop 6:00 PM “Making Peace,” at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma $7.00 per person. Adult event; childcare available for children who can use the restroom independently (5.00 per child)
Thursday
Luna Moms Playgroup Moms of babies and toddlers and their little ones. Organized by Codi of Stroller Strides, but open to any mom. Free; This week’s group meets at the play area at the South Hill Mall.Tell Codi I sent you!

Critter Club at Point Defiance Zoo 11:00 AM Story time with special art project and animal encounter for preschool aged children Does Not include zoo admission 6.00 for members/8.00 for non-members Also on Friday (choose one). Did you know registration is already open for summer zoo camps? It’s true!

Gig Harbor Library Chess Club 6PM Kids in grades K-6 enjoy 20 minutes of instruction and half an hour of game play
It’s a Third Thursday Extended hours and free admission at the Washington State History Museum, the Museum of Glass, the Tacoma Art Museum, and area art galleries.

Critter Club at the Pt.Defiance Zoo See Thursday
The Great Backyard Bird Count begins! I’ll have a separate post about this event, but you may want to read up now. You can count birds wherever you are and share your findings with scientists world wide. A great activity to teach kids about science, nature, and conservation.
Nature Story Time at the Tacoma Nature Center at Snake Lake 10:30-11:30; Nature themed stories and crafts; M is for Moonlight For preschool children; kids 4 and under must have an adult present 6.00 per child; registration required *Scroll down to see this event under “Nature Alphabet.”
Story times at Puyallup Public Library. Preschool time at 10:00; Toddlers at 11:15
Read with a dog at the Puyallup Public Library anytime between 3:30-4:30
Kids’ Night Out at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma For kids from 3-10. 25.00 for the first child and 10.00 for siblings. Includes supervision, crafting, pizza and snacks. Register now.
Don’t look now, but it’s President’s Day Weekend, which means your big kids have some extra time off. I’ll have a special weekend edition coming out Thursday.
