Have you got a budding author on your hands? Maybe a kid who spins tall tales every night around bedtime? Channel some of that creativity and enter the annual PBS Kids’ Go! Writers’ Contest. The contest is open to kids in Kindergarten-3rd grade, and the winners get their stories read on T.V. To get an idea of what a winning entry looks like, you’ll want to check out some past winners. Your kid can do that, right?
This year, the local PBS station here in Tacoma is also offering kids some extra help with a Free workshop (parents must attend) on February 26th from 2-3. It’s designed to help kids learn how to tell a story with art. You do need to register.
Just want to go for it? Download the entry form (this is a pdf file) and read the rules (another pdf file). You have until March 31st to get your entry in. Whether you win or lose, this is a wonderful, early literacy activity and a great idea to pass on to the parents of kids you know who need a little something extra.
