Four Alarm Fun With Santa and the Fire Department!

December 2, 2010 by Maegen Blue

What’s more fun than Santa on his sleigh? How about Santa on a fire truck! Readers Mitzi and Jane reminded me about his upcoming appearance in Gig Harbor, which reminded me to check other area stations. Sure enough, St.Nick will be hanging out with his fire fighting friends all over the south sound. In some neighborhoods he’ll actually drive by on a fire truck, while others will have open houses where kids can come take pictures with Santa and meet fire fighters (total toss up about who my 5 year old would be more excited about)!

All these events are free, but each department is encouraging you to bring a canned food donation. Did I miss your area? Let me know!

East Pierce-Includes Tacoma Pt. Edgewoood, Sumner, and Bonney Lake  Runs begin Sunday the 5th. Check for your date and calendar  Santa comes through neighborhoods accompanied by fire fighters.

Central Pierce-Includes Puyallup, South Hill, Summit, and Parkland/Spanaway  Firefighters will be participating in the Puyallup parade and tree lighting. There will be open houses with Santa at station 61 and station 66 on different dates.

University Place-Santa will be driving through neighborhoods between the 6th and the 12th. Check the schedule to find your area. He will also be participating in the tree lighting and appearing at Trader Joe’s (bet the reindeer like those peanut butter pretzels).

Gig Harbor-Fire Station open houses

Riverside Fire and Rescue Santa run through the community the 15th-18th. They have an information number you can call for more specifics.

Fife  Santa hooks up with the police department in Fife on the 11th with a drive around area neighborhoods that begins in the morning.

Are you seeing Sounds Fun Mom on Facebook? The page was relaunched on November 24th. If you “Liked,” SFM before that, just click the Facebook icon on the left to get back in the loop! New here? Come join a fun group of area parents, or consider subscribing to my RSS feed or emails, so you don’t miss out on a bit of frugal family fun.

Just getting here this week? I’ve had a ton of great posts (if I do say so myself)! Scroll down to get caught up on gingerbread houses, Santa letters, and more!

Santa used to drive through our neighborhood when we lived in Fife. This is such a fun thing for the kids.
