Done the snowman and the angels already?
Here are some other new ideas for snow play that are particularly fun for little ones. We’d love you to leave a comment with your ideas, too!
Snow Painting-Fill a clean (no chemicals, please) squirt or spray bottle with a food coloring and water mix and let your guys paint the snow. Empty condiment bottles are also good choices. There are special kits sold for this activity, but I think do it yourself works fine.
Snow Castles-Bust out the sand toys and have at it. Buckets, shovels, and molds are easy for mitten clad fingers and a snow castle creation is faster than a snowman. Look around your kitchen for other ideas. Finally……a use for that bundt pan!
Angel Mosaic-A fun idea from Family Fun magazine. You make a snow angel and then fill it in with natural elements like bird seed for a cool mosaic effect.
Ice Sculpting-Little ones love to paint with ice cubes (food coloring again). Put out a variety of containers to freeze and let them make ice creations (or use your freezer to speed things up). It is true that your tongue will stick to frozen things, so don’t let them lick these or handle them with bare skin.
Snow Ice Cream-Fresh snow, a little vanilla and sugar, and there you go! I know not everyone lets their kids eat snow, but I ate plenty growing up, and I’ve survived so far. I’ll let you decide for your kiddos!
Of course, if you want to have some good old-fashioned snow ball throwing, it’s fine with me.
