Just a reminder that Santa Claus is coming to town…or at least to Sumner. Read on for details about Santa’s arrival at the Old Cannery. Hint: You can get free pictures!
The Friday after Thanksgiving is the day Santa comes to the Old Cannery in Sumner. Pictures and sleigh rides are free from 11:00-4:00. At 4:30 the bridge lighting begins, followed by a fireworks display at 5:00. (The Sumner city website says the whole thing starts at 5:00, but the Old Cannery site says bridge at 4:30-I’ll try to sort it out for you).
Pictures with Santa at the cannery continue on weekends until Christmas. Sleigh rides will also be available Saturdays and Sundays through the season.
If you haven’t been to The Old Cannery before, it’s a fun stop. Your kids will enjoy the fudge counter and the toy trains that run over head. There is also a train in the kids’ section that they can activate with the push of a button.
The Old Cannery has special events through out the year, and they’re all free. Of course, the idea is that you’ll wander in and buy a couch or a dining set. Obviously, Sounds Fun Mom cannot be held responsible if you choose to impossible buy some furniture! I will tell you we got our couches there several years ago, and we love them (the couches in the “nice room,” for those of you who are picturing them)!
Now, I’ve been to the Old Cannery many times, but I’ve never actually made this event, so if anyone has suggestions…like where to park, I’d love, love, love for you to share them!
