If you live near Puyallup, you’ve probably been to Trackside Pizza. If you’re not a local, I have many pie loving friends who will tell you it’s worth the trip.
Trackside makes gourmet style pizza. They’re known for creative toppings and truly yummy crust. Their prices are also a lot higher, than let’s say,Papa Murphy’s with a coupon, so keep that in mind.
Henry and I went for lunch. I find doing lunch with the kids way more fun than taking them out for dinner. Restaurants are less crowded at lunch time, the prices are cheaper, and it’s a much better time of day for most young kids.
The kids’ make your own pizza at Trackside is around 8.00-splurgier than a Happy Meal, but so much more fun. The waitress will bring out the dough and toppings for your little chef, and he gets to make the whole thing himself. How cute is that? When it’s finished, kiddos get to walk up to the pizza ovens and yell, “Pie up!” Henry’s was super tasty even though he ate some of the toppings before they got on the pizza. It made about six kid sized slices, which was enough for his lunch and a snack for mom.
While you’re waiting, you will probably see at least one train go by, which is a total thrill for kids. As its name implies, the restaurant is right next to the tracks, and you really do get an eyefull. Kids will also enjoy watching pizzas go in and out of the oven, which they can see from most of the booths. All in all, it’s a lot of entertainment value for the price of your lunch.
Now, I’m not a food critic, but I will tell you my caesar salad tasted a lot like the stuff you make from the bag, with less dressing and more cheese. It was a pretty small plate for about 5.00, too. Next time, I’ll just buy myself a slice, or get a coke.
As far as Henry is concerned, it was a five star afternoon all around. When asked to sum it up he said, “Yummy and totally awesome.”
I’m working on a master list of kid friendly restaurants and kids eat free deals. I’ll be honest: It’s turning into a bit of a chore! Help me out by telling me your fav. spot for eating with the kids (with or without crayons)!
Your big weekend list is coming tomorrow. Check back then and bring a friend!
