Our neighborhood has some pretty impressive light displays at Christmas. The really amazing thing is how many folks get them up on Thanksgiving. My husband likes to hold out for a good snow and ice storm, after which he knows I won’t let him near a ladder. Sneaky grinch, he is.
If neighborhood displays are too small scale for your crew, you can see some truly dazzling creations at Fantasty Lights in Spanaway.
Fantasy Lights is a two mile drive- through light show around Spanaway Lake. It’s put on by the Pierce County Parks department, and it’s a bit like zoo lights, except that the light displays aren’t animal themed. As you drive through, you can tune to a special station to hear area high school groups play holiday music. It’s half tacky, half sweeet-100% family fun.
Fantasy Lights opens to cars November 25th. A car load is 13.00, or you can get advance tickets for 10.00. This event is super popular on weekends, when you may have to wait in line for up to an hour (!)
We’ve always gone on Sunday nights and had no wait at all.
Oooh! Thanks for this one! I had been once before and was hoping to take the kids this year. Can’t wait!
