Caspar Babypants

November 5, 2010 by Maegen Blue

Hi! If you’re here looking for your weekend events list, I’ll have it up in just a bit. New here? Think about liking SFM on Facebook, so you don’t miss a thing.

I have to confess something shocking: We don’t own any kids’ music. Not one single Raffi. I know!

To be honest, the stuff just wasn’t on my radar when we had our first, and by the time Henry was born most of what I heard about children’s singers was along the lines of, “If I have to listen to that one more time, I swear I’m gonna….” Since ours were used to buckling up and listening to NPR (mom) or oldies rock (dad), we figured why rock the boat?

Well, my friend Maygan emailed me recently about Caspar Babypants. You probably know all about them already, but if you don’t, you really should! Capar Babypants if fronted by Chris Ballew of The Presidents, and it’s music that’s catchy without being grating and kid friendly without being so trickly sweet that you want to gag. It’s just really, really cool.

Plus, tons of it is available to listen to for free on their website. Now free is really music to my ears!

Capar Babypants will be playing a big, free concert with other kiddie rock groups way up in Seattle this Sunday, but you can also catch them at the Kent library Saturday, the Federal Way Library on the 14th, and at the Auburn library on the 20th. All shows are Free. How cool is that? Their whole schedule is listed on their home page-just scroll down. You’ll also see that they’re leading the Dancy Dance for Yo Gabba Gabba at The Tacoma Dome (a bit ticket event), but I don’t think a free pony could make me go to Yo Gabba Gabba. Really, if you have a kid in the preschool set or younger, you need to get into Caspar Babypants. If you find yourself rocking out just a little more than your kids you’re not alone!

glad you enjoyed it! We don’t own tons of kid music either, but I do get some of these songs stuck in my head (googly eyes has been stuck in there for days- I think I like it more than my boys!)

Keep in touch!
