I’m working on a list of weekend ideas for you, and honestly, it’s so big that I wanted to highlight a few today. If you need something fun to do right this minute, don’t worry! I’ve got you covered.
First, it’s already time for Zoo Boo! Zoo Boo is the Point Defiance Zoo’s annual Halloween celebration. Now, I sort of assume you have a zoo membership (and you really Should if you go even twice a year), but if you don’t, you can get two dollars off by coming in costume. Carousel rides and face painting are a few dollars extra, but the other activities you’ll find around the zoo are free with your entry. What I like about Zoo Boo is that it’s during daylight hours, which makes it a safe, and not so scary choice, for little ones.
Another too cool activity this weekend is the tree climbing event at Wright Park. Now, my kids have pretty much been climbing since they could stand, and they haven’t stopped. The problem is most of our trees really aren’t suitable for climbing. They’re either too little and wobbly or too, well, pitch-y. I really can’t describe how much goo gets stuck to a kid after he’s climbed a fir tree for an hour. As you can imagine, I’m pretty excited about the idea of safe and supervised tree climbing. The event is from 10AM-3 PM Saturday in Wright Park. Certified arborists (tree experts) will be supervising the tree climbing, and kids will be suited up wtih harnesses and helmets. In addition to the tree climbing, kids can do a leaf craft and go on a nature scavenger hunt as they explore the park. Now, I can’t find any age restrictions on this event, but you may want to call to check. 253-591-2039
I’ll have lots more for you tomorrow including lizards, knights, salmon, and more!
What to do, right now, today? It looks beautiful out, so you may want to check my seasonal fun page at the top and go find your pumpkin. Or think about trying one of the hikes, parks, or walks I’ve mentioned here, here, or here.
I hope your day is full of frugal fun, Sounds Fun Mom style!
