Updated for 2017
I hope you all had a great weekend! If you get a chance, stop by the Facebook page, and tell us about it. You’ll also notice I’ve made it a little easier to subscribe to my emails or RSS feed.
It’s looking sunny today (it figures, doesn’t it?), but since my indoor fun posts have been some of the most popular, I thought I’d give you a heads-up about a great place to take in a flick without refinancing your mortage.
It’s the Blue Mouse, and it’s a cool, funky old theatre in Tacoma. Best of all, their ticket prices are still old and cool, too-Mon and Tues evenings all seats are $4, Sat and Sun matinees are $4 as well. Wed-Sun evenings, adults are $6, and seniors and kids under age 16 are $5. They also have reasonable concession prices, so you can leave your diaper bag/popcorn smuggler at home. The current movie is Despicable Me, which, frankly, looks pretty bad, but fairly harmless if your kids are old enough to handle cartoon violence. It’s PG, and there is a review for parents here .
You can get an even better deal at the AMC Gateway 8 in Federal Way. Ticket prices are $2.99 for all ages, 3-D $3.99.
Thanks also to reader and discerning parent, Kris, for writing in with an endorsement of Despicable Me.
If you’re parenting a child with sensory issues, you should know about sensory friendly nights at AMC theaters. Lights are kept up and kids and their parents are allowed to move around and talk as needed.
Other deals? Most area libraries show family friendly movies at least once a month. If going to the theater is more your thing, several of the deal a day sites, such as Groupon, have offered ticket deals recently. I’ll let you know next time I notice one.
Most of the major chains also offer free kids’ movies in the summer, but that’s a ways off! Know a thrifty theater I missed? Send me a reply!
What else is coming?
Check back this afteroon as I kick off the Jump! pass giveaway.
I also have posts planned on more undiscovered parks, my favorite kid friendly websites, and, as always, a big list of suggestions for your weekend, starting with Zoo Boo and the tree festival at Wright Park.
While you’re not getting soaked, it might be a great time to go get your gourd (check the seasonal fun page at the top).Go call a couple friends and get ready to enter the Jump! giveaway this afternoon. I’ll see you then!
