First, you’ll notice at the top of the page that I’ve made it a bit easier to become a SFM Facebook fan and to subscribe to my emails or RSS feed. Please note if you subscribe to SFM via email, you will receive an activation email that you will need to confirm. Please, if you have any questions about any of these features, let me know.
I also wanted to give you an update on my salmon spotting list. I got a nice email from Josh down at the Puyallup hatchery, and he said to let you know that they will do tours for your group depending on how busy they are, if you call ahead first. Josh says you can request him if you want. Thanks, Josh! How fun is that?
There are several fun events today. My advice is to go grab some coats with hoods and try to take advantage of breaks in the weather.
Oktoberfest-This event continues at the Puyallup fairgrounds. Lots of free activities for the kids. Admission is half off today for family Sunday. Kids are free all weekend, and so is parking. This is an indoor event, which makes it a good bet!
The Western Art show continues at The Fred Oldfield Center at the Fairgrounds (enter through the gold gate, or you’ll be at Oktoberfest). While not specifically a kids’ event, it’s definitely family friendly. In fact, hanging out at Fred Oldfield is a lot like being around a bunch of doting grandparents-if your grandparents were cowboys. It’s a free, indoor event.
There is a nature walk at the Morse property in Graham. You are pretty much guaranteed to get wet, but this is a special opportunity, as this area is normally only open to school groups. Put on some boots and jackets and go for it!
Thank you so much to everyone for sharing this site with your email lists, Facebook lists, and plain, old friends. Next week, I’ll be doing a giveaway for two 7 visit punchcards to Jump! If you have friends near Gig Habor, tell them to start following me now.
