I’m busy working on posts about salmon viewing and apple picking, and I’m also going to have some ideas for those of you who will have extra kids at home Thursday and Friday.

It’s Wednesday, why dontcha ‘ya……
Visit a new park. I’ll bet you’ve never been to Narrows Park. Bundle up for “Wow! Mom!” views of the bridge and the least visited shoreline park in the sound. It’s a little tricky to find, but you can do it!
Get farm fresh produce from Terry’s Berries or hazelnuts (!) from Filbert’s Acres Flibert’s is a true mom and pop operation, so you may want to call first. Jonathan or Allison will love to talk to you. Check out the chickens while you’re there.
Whip up a batch of no-bake cookies. They take ten minutes, and they’re as good as you remember.
Explain to your kids why leaves change color and go pick up some favorites. You’ll notice that website isn’t the slickest, but I like that it has a grown-up explanation at the top and an, “I can read,” piece at the bottom.
Go on a Halloween scavenger hunt! Make a list of Halloween decorations-e.g. ghost, Jack o Lantern, spider web… Draw pictures for younger kids. Load everyone in the car and drive around until you’ve checked them all off.
Teach your kids about gratitude. Dig out some stationary and write a note of praise for the best retail employee you know. Let the kids see you delivering it to the manager or have them help you mail it. You might get someone a well deserved raise for your trouble.
Look in the blog archives and take your pick of indoor playgrounds, bounce houses, or other SFM recommended outings.
