I’ve got lots of great additions to the calendar this week, but I wanted to do a quick post to let my readers near Olympia know about a program that sounds super fun to me.
It’s called Marine Creature Monday! These special events are put on by the volunteers with the Stream Team at the Boston Harbor Marina. Kids will learn about scuba equipment from a diver who will then go under to retrieve some critters that kids will get to check out! How cool is that?
Kids will also learn about keeping our waters healthy, and yes, every creature will be kept in saltwater and released on its way at the end of the event!
Kids 6 and under do need life jackets. The marina has some to loan, but I’d bring your own if you have one.
You do need to register for this event. The directions aren’t hard, but they are very specific, so read them over before you sign up. Right now I see plenty of time slots open (Just pick One), and hey-tomorrow is Monday!
Let me know what you think if you go!
Thanks to Thurston Talk for the heads-up on this program-it’s a great source for my Thurston County area readers.
If this isn’t near you, no worries! Low tides are offering opportunities around the South Sound tomorrow. Check back soon for more on those!
