Looking for affordable holiday fun with the kids this weekend in Tacoma, Auburn, Lakewood, Olympia, or another South Sound spot?  You’ve come to the right place for a whole list of affordable South Sound fun for kids and families this weekend.

Ongoing Holiday Events

 Zoolights at Pt.Defiance Zoo Zoo admission gets pricey. SFM recommends investing in an annual pass (Christmas gift from grandma?) unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for city of Tacoma residents.

 Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Lake (Drive-Thru) Ongoing event through New Years

Wild Waves Holiday Lights through December 31; 6pm to 10pm (11pm on Sat. & Sun). You can get discount tickets for $12.99 online or at Safeways. Includes lights and most rides. Thanks, ThriftyNWMom.

Apollo 13: Mission Control  Interactive show at the Tacoma Dome. Link has info. on  a discount code and our review

Winter Wildland at Northwest Trek  Watch the critters enjoy special holiday themed treats and activities. Included with admission. Trek admission is pricey; SFM recommends investing in an annual pass if you’d go more than twice this year. They can be added to zoo passes. Through January 1st.

Model Train Festival at the Washington State History Museum  Floors of model trains, some children’s activities. You can Try to get a library pass for free admission. This is the one time of year I’ve had a hard time doing this. We did this several years with the boys, and if you have a train lover, it’s a great outing. I would urge you to try to go on a weekday if you can. It gets very crowded, and it is difficult for small children to see the trains with all the people. Pack your patience if you go today, and leave a report if you do! Thanks!

WinterFest at the Morse preserve in Graham Short nature walks, cocoa.If you didn’t have a chance to register, you can still go. Parking will be very tight, so you’re encouraged to carpool. Link has more info. on this outing, plus directions.

Go Green in 2013 The LOTT Wet Center in Olympia has a program with ideas for greening up the house this year. 1PM

Movie Night at Discovery Village in Gig Harbor ! Daytime Snowman craft and movie night at 6PM.Activities included with admission.

Kids Design Glass at the Museum of Glass   The last Sunday of the month, artisans in the hot shop create a kid designed sculpture. Included with admission. MOG museum can get steep; you may want to try and get a pass from your library. There will be all kinds of free museum going in Tacoma New Year’s Eve, too!
