Looking for South Sound family fun? Kids’ activities in Tacoma, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, or your neck of the woods?

You’ve come to the right place! Here’s my list of fun and affordable things to do with the kids in and around the South Sound this week!

Ongoing: Story time is back at  all area libraries! Every day this week, there are multiple events for all ages. Here is the link for Pierce County (change the date in the calendar on the left). Here is the link for the Tacoma Public Library (change the date in the calendar on the left). If you’re one of my Thurston County readers, here is the link to Timberland regional library. Use the calendar to the left to look for kids’ story times. Here is the link for my Kitsap readers, and here is the link to the King County Library System (You can search by individual library).

 Zoolights at Pt.Defiance Zoo

Franciscan Polar Plaza ice skating in downtown Tacoma

The reindeer are in at Watson’s nursery in Puyallup Santa during most hours, too.

Monday

Rain got you down? I have lists of bounce house places, indoor playgrounds, and malls with soft play sections. Make a play date and grab a little pumpkin latte, why don’t you? Did you know Pump it Up in Tacoma has re-opened? It’s true!

Tuesday

It’s 1.00 day at the Starplex in Federal Way  Tickets are just 2.00 other days. Brave, Finding Nemo, Timothy Green, and Ice Age are your kid friendly options (Small upcharge if you choose the 3-D version).
 Wednesday

Car seat inspections at Good Sam Children’s Therapy Unit

Music and Movement at the Gig Harbor Library at 10:30  Children birth-5 are invited for a special session of music, songs, and play

Lego Builders Club at the Lakewood Library 1-3  Free, drop in program. Parents should assist young children

Wacky Wednesdays at the South Hill Library 2-4PM Lego madness today. Free, drop in program for school age kids.

Writer’s Workshop at the Steilacoom Library with musician, puppeteer, and writer, Eric Ode. Free program for kids 6 and up. 3PM no registration required.

Victorian Country Christmas begins at the Puyallup Fairgrounds Tickets are 8.00 for kids 6 and up and 10.00 for adults. Let me know if you find any discount tickets around.

Read to a Dog at the Summit Library 4PM  Practice reading with patient, canine listener, Dan. It’s his birthday today! Same event at Sumner at 4 with a different doggy listener.

November 28th Opening Day of the Providence Christmas Forest in Olympia

Story time with Santa at Westfield/Southcenter 6PM  Ongoing, weekly story time with Santa at the Macy’s Court

Thursday

Read with a Dog at the Puyallup Public Library 3:30 Kids can drop in to practice their reading with patient, canine listener, Dan.

Fetch Club at the Orting Library Science based club for kids in grades 1-5 based on the popular PBS series. No registration required at this location.

Chess Club is back at the Gig Harbor Library

Ballet Northwest presents scenes from the Nutcracker at 3PM at the Lacey Library  includes question and answer time with the dancers

Mommy and Me Holiday Party at Westfield Southcenter 5-8PM mini makeovers, up-dos, holiday photo booth  All free, while supplies last

Sounds of Christmas at PLU While not a children’s event, I think it would be fine for interested kids, and it’s an affordable 8.00 for adults; free for kids 18 and under.

Friday

Music and Movement at the Gig Harbor Library at 10:30  Children birth-5 are invited for a special session of music, songs, and play

Nature Alphabet at the Center at Norpoint or Nature Numbers at the STAR center in South Tacoma  Special, nature themed math literacy and story times for preschoolers. Registration and fees required.

United Churches of Olympia Christmas Handbell Concert

South Sound Classical Choir performs at the Puyallup United Methodist Church 8PM. While not a children’s event, I think it should be fine for interested kids, and some of you had asked about affordable musical performances. This one’s Free!
