Nature Alphabet At the Tacoma Nature Center 10:30 Nature themed story time for preschoolers  V is for volcanoes today; registration and fees required

Day of the Dead Celebration at the Sumner Library Learn about this Mexican tradition, decorate a sugar skull cookie and enjoy hot chocolate. Requires registration.

Auburn Avenue Kids Presents The Three Pigs  Tickets a very reasonable 6.00

StoryTime at Southcenter/Tukwila Barnes and Noble 11AM Every Saturday in the children’s section

Water Weekends at HCC Mast at Redondo Every Saturday you can get up close with critters in the touch tanks and learn about sea life from 10-2 Here’s their Facebook page

Puyallup/Sumner/Greater Pierce County

Pet Expo at the Puyallup Fairgrounds agility dogs, Reptile Man, and a much, much more pet oriented entertainment and merchandise. Tickets are 12.00 for adults and 6.00 for kids 6-12. Younger kids and active and retired military members are free. Save 2.00 by purchasing tickets online.

Used Book Sale at the South Hill Library 10AM-4PM; bag sale at 2:15

Fall Craft Time at the Sumner Library 1-2:30 free, drop-in event for the whole family. Come make a bookmark!

Lego! my Library at the Puyallup Public Library 11AM Build creations inspired by stories. New club. No registration required; for kids 3-8


Nature Walk at Swan Creek with staff from the Tacoma Nature Center  10AM free; online sign up requested. I’ve written about Swan Creek before. This would be a nice opportunity to explore it with a group if it sounded like more adventure than you wanted to try alone! Walks are not recommended for strollers or children under 3.

Arts of the Fur Trade at Fort Nisqually Experience life in the mid-1800s as actors in period dress demonstrate blacksmithing,open fire cooking, spinning, and more. Admission is charged. 11AM-4PM

Special Charlotte’s Web story time and craft at the Swasey Library 11AM

Gig Harbor/Kitsap/Beyond

Fall movies at Galaxy Uptown  2.00 shows benefit the Jaycox benevolence fund. It’s the Bee Movie today. Doors open at 9:30; show at 10

Marine Life at the  LOTT Wet Center  Every Saturday the center is open with free, themed activities for the family designed to educate about science and the environment. Today’s is a, “Virtual tour,” of the underwater world with pictures and a video at 1PM. Beading and sea star print craft are available all day. Note: Link opens large, pdf file.

Story Time at Cabelas in Lacey Children and parents or grandparents can hear outdoor stories the first Saturday of the month in the walled tent area. **Please call to check on this before you go. I haven’t had time to yet, and I think the time may have changed. I’ll update it when I get the scoop.

Saturday Story time at the Olympia Barnes and Noble 1PM  Ongoing event

Pier Peer with the South Sound Estuary Association Sea critters at night at the Boston Harbor Marina. Requires registration and group size is limited. You can register for an upcoming month if it’s full.
