If one of your resolutions this year is to save money, or create a better budget, you’ll want to hear about the new book from from Crystal Paine, of the Money Saving Mom, one of the most popular personal finance blogs anywhere on the web. It’s The Money Saving Mom’s Budget: Slash Your Spending, Pay Down Your Debt, Streamline Your Life, and Save Thousands a Year.
I’ll be honest: Although I’ve been a fan of Crystal’s forever, I was a little skeptical about this book. I’ve read numerous other budgeting guides, and I wasn’t sure what she’d have to say that was new. It also seemed like the title was promising a lot for a fairly slim volume.
Well, I’m pleased to tell you Crystal delivered! The book is a quick, easy read, but it’s chock full of insights and practical tips that will help you start saving Today.
What makes this book unique is that it has Everything all in one place. Yes, she shows you how to create a working household budget, but she also has a sections on organizing your home (Connecting clutter to wasting money was an eye opener for me), couponing, time management, and so much more. Just like her site, it’s a fun mix, too. There are step by step how-tos, quick tips, and even spreadsheets. I really think that whether you’re a dyed in the wool cheapie, or just looking to get the Visa paid off once and for all, you’ll find something useful here.
Crystal and her family are Christian home schoolers, and her world view does come through, but I think you’ll find her words encouraging regardless of your faith tradition. You should also know that Crystal is donating all of the profits from the book to the charity, Compassion International, so you really can’t go wrong with this investment. If you are still on the fence, you can read sections of it for yourself on Amazon. I’d love to hear how you do on your frugal journey!
A special welcome to Money Saving Mom readers. What a thrill to be part of Crystal’s book launch, even in this small way.
