Looking for quick weekday inspiration? My list is right here.
If you’ve got a fan of Littlest Pet Shop or Furreal Friends at your house, you might think about hitting this weekend’s dog show at the Puyallup Fair Grounds. It’s free and promises lots of primping pooches.
Now, there is some etiquette to attending a dog show. First, you need to leave your own four legged friend at home. Second, you need to make sure your little one knows not to pet any dog without permission (a good rule for any setting) and not to approach a dog about to compete (you don’t want to ruin Fluffy’s concentration). You’ll also want to steer clear of the ring area so that the dogs and their handlers aren’t confused or distracted.
The AKC has an excellent section for kids that explains what they might see at a dog show as well as how to have good dog show manners. For older kids, there is even a “Sniff and Find,” worksheet-think of it as a dog scavenger hunt!
Extend the fun by reading young children the Ezra Jack Keats classic, Pet Show!
Snow is in the forecast again. I’m not sure if I believe it, but if you’re in the spirit, be sure to check out my snowflake making post.
